L-Theanine

The amino acid in green tea that produces calm, focused alertness.

L-Theanine is an amino acid found almost exclusively in tea leaves. It's the reason a cup of green tea feels different from a cup of coffee — same caffeine, smoother experience.

What it is

L-Theanine increases alpha brainwave activity, the pattern associated with relaxed alertness and creative flow. It's one of the most-studied 'nootropic stacks' when paired 1:1 with caffeine.

How it works

L-Theanine crosses the blood-brain barrier and modulates several neurotransmitters (GABA, dopamine, serotonin) to reduce stress without sedation. When paired with caffeine, it blunts the jittery edge while preserving the focus benefits.
